Her career in journalism began with Myrtle Beach South Carolina as a news reporter and anchor at WPDE-TV. In the following years, she worked as a morning-news anchor as well as crime reporter for WCBD TV. The journalist's report on the lack of response of the police in response to DUI incidents in Charleston led to an investigation being conducted by the State Law Enforcement Division, which led to a change in direction from the state authorities on DUI cases. Ms. O'Dell received her Best Report of the Award from the Associated Press for South Carolina's media. In the years following her stint in Charleston O'Dell served as anchor and investigative reporter at NBC's Miami station WTVJ-TV prior to joining Access Hollywood as a weekend anchor as well as a weekday correspondent.
